Big Horn River

The Big Horn River is undoubtedly one of the finest tail water fisheries the world has to offer. With its prolific seasonal hatches and its enormous fish population it can make any fly-fisherman’s dreams come true. The combination of the water flows controlled by Yellowtail Dam and the biological makeup of the river produces very aggressive and large brown trout, rainbows, and cut-bows, reaching sizes of twenty to twenty nine inches in length. Every fish that is hooked on the Big Horn River is ready and willing to test ones skills.

Yellowstone River

Flowing straight out of Yellowstone National Park the longest free flowing stream in the U.S., the Yellowstone River mixes with mineral rich hot springs to create its famous fishery. The cold water combines with the rich minerals to generate a wild array of hatches; the most famous is the Salmon Fly hatch that occurs in the spring. The Yellowstone has over one hundred miles of fishable water that surges it’s way through Paradise Valley and beyond creating deep pools that hold record brown trout that can be very difficult to catch even for the most experienced fisherman.

Blackfeet Reservation

Engulfed by the beautiful Glacier National Park the waters of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation are home to some of the biggest and strongest fish in the world. Anglers that fish in the spring fed waters of the Blackfeet Reservation can be expected to catch trout that reach lengths of 25 to 30 inches. This is the only place in the world that can offer the stunning Rocky Mountains as a backdrop to catching fish of this magnitude. Some of these spots include Duck Lake, Mission Lake, Hidden Lake, and Goose Lake. The headwaters of the Marias River, Milk River, Saint Mary’s River and the forks of the Flathead River are also very productive and fun. Private spring creek fishing in Southern Alberta awaits those who welcome an extra challenge.

Not just any guide can guide on the Blackfeet Reservation. This is what separates Montana Adventures and Angling from the rest of the guide services in Montana. In order to be guided to these magnificent waters on the Blackfeet Reservation one needs an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe to guide them. Montana Adventures and Angling has just that. Owner and outfitter Jim McFadyean is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe and was born and raised fishing and hunting these areas. He has more than enough experience to lead an angler to the fish of a lifetime.
